The Handmaid’s Tale depicts a religious dystopia, but I lived in the real thing – the rise of Christian Nationalism in America. What I discovered when I escaped might shock you, but it also might be the key to your own liberation.

In this unflinching expose, I reveal:
  • How American Christianity became a weapon instead of a way of love
  • Why the “persecution complex” is actually about maintaining power
  • The ancient Hebrew concept that exposes modern Christian hypocrisy
  • How to distinguish between authentic faith and nationalist ideology
  • A path forward for those who refuse to choose between Jesus and justice
From the Crusades to MAGA rallies, the pattern is clear: When faith becomes a tool of empire, people get hurt. Real people.
Because the deadliest lies are the ones we tell ourselves in God’s name.

Description

You’ll discover the uncomfortable truth:

The biggest threat to Christianity isn’t atheism or secularism or any other ism, it’s believers who’ve convinced themselves their hatred is holy, their exclusion is godly, and their cruelty is Christ-like.

This book is for you if:

  • You feel spiritually homeless after leaving toxic church culture
  • You’re tired of choosing between your faith and your conscience
  • You suspect something is deeply wrong with American Christianity
  • You’re ready to unlearn everything you thought you knew about following Jesus

From the Crusades to MAGA rallies, the pattern is clear: When faith becomes a tool of empire, people get hurt. Real people.

Because the deadliest lies are the ones we tell ourselves in God’s name.

Todd Eubanks

Todd Eubanks brings a unique perspective to the examination of Christian Nationalism through his personal journey and professional expertise. As the founder and president of Caboodle Media since 2005, Todd has spent nearly two decades analyzing how narratives shape perception and influence behavior—insights that inform his critical examination of how religious language can be weaponized in political and cultural contexts.

Todd's exploration of Christian Nationalism is deeply personal. Raised in the Southern Baptist tradition in rural Oklahoma, he experienced firsthand the gradual merging of faith and nationalism that has transformed American Christianity. His eight years working in ministry as a Creative Director provided an insider's view of how churches navigate cultural and political pressures, while his subsequent career in media strategy has equipped him with tools to dissect the powerful messaging that fuels Christian Nationalist movements.

Academically, Todd studied at John Brown University and Queen's University Belfast, experiences that broadened his understanding of how faith operates in different cultural contexts. His membership in the American Bar Association's Science & Technology Law Section reflects his ongoing interest in how ideas and information shape society.

Beyond his professional work, Todd serves as an officer and board member of Neighbor's Harvest, contributing to community development through sustainable urban agriculture initiatives. This practical engagement with community needs informs his vision of what faith in action can look like when separated from nationalist agendas.

"Unlearning Christianity" emerges from Todd's conviction that authentic faith must be disentangled from the cultural and political baggage that has accumulated around it. Through personal anecdotes, historical analysis, and theological reflection, he invites readers to join him in rediscovering a faith that looks more like Jesus and less like the Christianity of America.

Todd lives in Little Rock, Arkansas with his wife and four children, where he continues to explore what it means to follow Christ faithfully in a divided nation.
